Disappointing defeat for The Lie in the final home game of the season

Arthurlie returned to West of Scotland Premier Division action on Saturday as we faced Glenafton at Dunterlie in the final home game of the 25/26 campaign. The Lie were looking to build on their 5-1 derby-day victory over Pollok.

The home side started the game on the attack, creating various chances that came back off the woodwork or were cleared off the line. However, despite all these chances, it was Glenafton who would open the scoring, firing a free kick into the net past Marc Waters. The away side would then double their lead soon after.  Glenafton grabbed their third of the afternoon, meaning the home side had a mountain to climb in the second half as we went in at the break 3-0 down.

The Lie in the second half continued to try and find a route back into the game, however, they were frustrated by a solid Glenafton defence and game would finish 3-0 at full time.

Despite the difficult result after the game we were able to celebrate a successful season as we had our player of the year awards. Mark Taylor was triple award winner as he picked up Player of the Year, Top Goalscorer and Players Player of the Year while Callum Scott picked up Young Player of the Year , a massive congratulations to both players.

Next up for The Lie is a trip to face Troon to finish off the 25/26 campaign on Saturday with a 2pm kick off.
